When you look good, you feel confident and do good! I am breaking down the best tips to get your glow. These tools should be in combination with your regular skin routine. I encourage washing your face twice a day depending on your skin type (once at the least). And know that your best accessory to that glowing skin is your beautiful smile. Show the world your sparkle!

Moisture: The combination of winter weather and the use of heating elements indoors will cause your skin to experience dryness. Choosing a hydrating moisturizer in colder months is key to getting that glow. Also, consider a humidifier for your home. This moisture will heal any dryness you are experiencing this season.

Hydration: The glow starts from within. Making sure you are staying hydrated plays a big part in the look of your skin. We can easily gravitate towards the warmer drinks like lattes and mochas. All good, but make sure you are still getting in your ounces. Or maybe opt for a hot tea instead. A great rule of thumb is to drink half of your bodyweight in ounces of water. If you weigh 140lbs, drink at least 70 ounces a day. The more the better, truly.

Face Masks: Self-care and efficiently helping that skin glow, YES! Gravitate towards face masks that contain natural ingredients like almond oil and aloe this winter. 15 minutes on and watch your skin shine.

Use Lukewarm Water: Your tendency (especially in winter) may be to use hot water on your face. However, using lukewarm water when washing is best, as hot water tends to strip your skin of natural oils causing additional dryness.

Diet: As much as water plays into your glow, so does your diet. Your skin is a direct reflection of what nutrients (or lack thereof) you are putting into your body. Enjoy foods that have an elevated water content, such as: celery, cucumbers, carrots, watermelon and apple. Maybe an apple a day, will keep the dermatologist away!

Protection: Just because the sun isn’t shining everyday this winter, doesn’t mean you don’t need sunscreen. WInter weather can be just as harsh on your beautiful skin. Make sure you lather up.

Function & Fashion: A fun and easy way to keep your skin glowing is to cover up. Using beanies, scarves and gloves to keep your skin covered this winter. And have fun with it, there are so many cute, fashion forward options for winter accessories.

Highlighter: When all else fails, grab that brush and your favorite highlighter… dust away and glow, baby, glow!

Practice some of these new tips, along with your faithful skin care routine and watch the shine happen!
